The Complete Moving Checklist for Dubai Residents
A week-by-week checklist covering Ejari transfer, DEWA, school notices and packing — everything to handle before moving day.
Moving in Dubai involves more admin than the actual packing. Here's a simple timeline to keep it manageable.
3–4 weeks before
Book your movers, notify your landlord or agent of your move-out date, and start decluttering — fewer items means a lower quote.
1–2 weeks before
Transfer or cancel your Ejari, schedule DEWA disconnection at the old address and connection at the new one, and confirm building move-in/move-out permits with both management offices.
Moving week
Pack a "first night" box with essentials, label boxes by room, and confirm your moving crew's arrival window the day before.
After the move
Update your Emirates ID and vehicle registration address, and check off any building deposit refund paperwork with your previous landlord.
